Context

Established in May 2009, Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) is Singapore's first university of applied learning. Their requirement was to live stream their first physical graduation ceremony in a year simultaneously on both their Youtube and Facebook channels.

Approach

After proceding with the venue recce to test out the lighting, video equipment and the connectivity, we set up a multi-camera live production and the live stream was broadcasted to SIT’s social media via our live video switching system.

The production also required a continual synchronisation between the live stream studio and the event script.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, a high level of sanitary measures was put in place, making the entire process more difficult: recurring swab testing for the crew, social distancing and a limitation to 300 individuals forcing SIT to split their ceremony into 11 sessions over 5 days.

Impact

Eventually, it was a real success for both SIT and Pixel Tie as well as a strong statement about Singapore capability to adapt and to live a new normal amidst the COVID-19 pandemic... to the point of having Transport Minister Ong Ye Kung as guess of honor and being covered by the local News channel as well.
